World Language Credits for High School Students
SiliconAndhra ManaBadi is a 501c3, non-profit ACS-WASC accredited Telugu language school. It offers Telugu as Supplementary Education Program.
SiliconAndhra ManaBadi offers yearlong – 2 semesters classes with the calendar year beginning in September and ending in May.
Classes are taught by trained teachers. SiliconAndhra ManaBadi offers yearlong curriculum support to its teachers. Teachers and school administrators are required to participate in annual staff development conferences held in the summer.
All school districts high school graduation requirements vary and so does its World Language course requirement. Please refer to your child’s district graduation requirement for details.
Universities look for language study in secondary grades to consider for college admission.
College admission requirements vary for each type of institution:
- Community College
- State College
- State Universities
- Private Universities and Ivy League Universities.
Several school districts across the U.S in the following states have approved our courses for World Language / Foreign Language/ Language other than English course credits to students in secondary grades.
AL, Nor CA, CO, CT, GA, IL, KS, MA, MI, MN, MO, NC, OH, OK, OR, San Diego, TX
Seal of Biliteracy criteria is different from World Language credits. Please refer to your school district requirements for Seal of Biliteracy.

General WLC FAQs
What are language credits?
- In most school districts / County, students are required to complete world language courses to graduate from the high school. Students are required to take Spanish French etc.
- Undergraduate colleges / Universities require students to meet minimum requirements of world language courses
How do I know which districts approved SiliconAndhra ManaBadi Telugu courses for credit?

How long does it take to get the approval?
There is no definite timeline. It could be a month or a year or more
Who needs these credits?
a. Students in secondary grades (grade 7-12). However, in most districts it is required that students complete the courses in high school.
b. Criteria is defined by the individual school district / county.
Is World Language Credit same as Seal of Biliteracy?
No. They are both different. Seal of Biliteracy criteria and the application process varies from school to school. Check with your child’s high school for the criteria.
My child completed Prabhasam? Is (s)/ he eligible for WL credits?
For the students to get the credits, courses should be completed in secondary grades and varies on the school / district criteria.
My child earned Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University certification? (s)/ he eligible for WL credits?
No. It depends on the district criteria.
Are language credits mandatory for the secondary grade students?
Some school districts do not require world language courses for high school graduation however, students in these schools must complete world language courses to comply with college admissions requirements.

In the State of California, the list of schools below accepts World Language Credits (WLC) to meet high school graduation requirement. Number of years of study required vary district-by-district. California State universities require a minimum 2 consecutive years of study. Private universities have their own requirements.
